Qatar Fund for Development visits the Republic of Uzbekistan exploring ways to support historical religious and cultural facilities with Uzbek institutions
A delegation from Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) headed by HE Mr. Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari, the Director General, made a field visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan, to explore and discuss ways of supporting and developing historical religious and cultural facilities with Uzbek institutions. Attended by HE Mr. Hassan Hamza Hashem, Ambassador of the state of Qatar to Uzbekistan. The delegation visited a number of important Islamic sites in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara.
During the three-day visit, HE Mr. Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari, Director General of QFFD, met with HE Ms. Gayane Umerova, Executive Director of The Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, and HE Mr. Luis Monreal is the General Manager of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, where aspects of joint cooperation between the two sides were discussed during the meeting. This visit comes to reaffirm the strong bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. It also reflects the Fund’s interest in supporting the cultural development sector, preserving communal heritage.
