HH The Amir Gives Directives to Allocate $50 Million to Support Syrian People

His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has given directions to allocate $50 million to support the Syrian refugees and displaced persons who suffer tough humanitarian conditions as a result of displacement and the cold winter weather.

The State of Qatar extends this grant in the form of an urgent relief aid package and a group of development programs, through Qatar Fund for Development, to the Syrian refugees in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, in addition to the displaced inside Syria.

The grant will be distributed as follows: $20 million to support the displaced within Syria, $10 million for programs supporting refugees in each of Jordan, Turkey and Lebanon, adding up to a total of $30 million in the three countries.

From the grant allocated for Syrian refugees in Lebanon, $5 million will be given to support the relief campaign in Arsal, which is supervised by Qatar Charity.

Qatar Fund for Development, in coordination with its partners such as the White Helmets and related United Nations agencies, will be responsible for spending these amounts in direct humanitarian relief programs to alleviate the effects of the winter, in addition to development programs in the education and health services fields.
