Qatar Fund for Development and Qatar Red Crescent Launch a Comprehensive Health Project to Enhance Healthcare for Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh

24 August 2026 — Doha, Qatar: Driven by their firm commitment to humanitarian work and alleviating the suffering of the most vulnerable populations, Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), in cooperation with Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), has launched a health project in Bangladesh. The initiative aims to enhance Rohingya refugees’ access to essential healthcare services and ensure the uninterrupted provision of around-the-clock medical care.

This joint project embodies the strategic partnership between both parties to support international humanitarian efforts. Implemented in collaboration with the local partner, BRAC, the project will deliver its services through the Primary Health Care Center to approximately 33,850 refugees over 12 months.

The targeted health center provides a comprehensive package of medical services, including outpatient clinics, 24/7 emergency services, inpatient care, pre- and postnatal maternal care, natural childbirth, vaccinations, and laboratory testing. Additionally, it ensures the provision of essential medicines, treatment for communicable and non-communicable diseases, mental health and psychosocial support services, and the operation of an ambulance and medical referral system.

Furthermore, the project places special emphasis on maternal and child health by monitoring pregnancies, conducting periodic check-ups, providing essential medications and health guidelines, and raising awareness about danger signs during and after pregnancy. This is in addition to offering family planning services and promoting awareness of proper nutrition for mothers and children.

The project also includes community health awareness activities, early detection of medical conditions, guiding patients to appropriate services, and enhancing disease prevention measures and preparedness for potential epidemics and health risks.

This project represents a continuation of the joint commitment of QFFD and the QRCs in their ongoing cooperation to support Rohingya refugees and improve their conditions, a partnership that has resulted in numerous successful relief and development projects worldwide.
