Qatar Fund for Development attends the school reopening ceremony in the Italian city of Macerata
This project will ensure children in Macerata have access to education and the resumption of education services
Continuing the directives of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, The Emir of the State of Qatar, Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) witnessed the reopening ceremony of the school
complex in Macerata after the destruction caused by the 2016 earthquake in Italy.
Where the events were attended by a high level delegation from QFFD, headed by His Excellency Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Kuwari, Director General of QFFD. In addition to His Excellency Ambassador Abdulaziz Ahmed Almalki, ambassador of the State of Qatar in Rome.
Last year, QFFD witnessed the stone laying ceremony of the foundation of the school. This project as part from a Memorandum of Understanding that the Fund signed with the Italian government through which 5.6 million euros were donated for the reconstruction of the areas affected by the earthquake.
The school complex includes several basic facilities, including a nursery, primary and secondary schools, as well as a gymnasium. The complex was built on an area of 24,000 square meters.
This project will ensure that the right to education of the children of Macerata is preserved and the educational services are resumed. This project will restore the hope and confidence of the people who were victims of the earthquake misfortune. The aim of this celebration is to ensure that every child have an access to education services. This step is ones of the steps that leads to achieve the sustainable development goals.
