Qatar Fund for Development expanding international cooperation with Global Good

To reinforce the strategic partnership between QFFD, local and international partners to achieve SDG targets 2030

Millions of people suffer and die each year in poor countries for reasons that humanity has the scientific and technical capacity to resolve. Within this framework, Qatar Fund for Development organized a workshop entitled “Using Innovation to achieve SDG targets 2030” with the participation of esteemed and relevant institutions and organizations with the attendance of more than 60 representatives from a range of Doha-based charities, academic and research organizations as well as governmental entities including Qatar Charity, Qatar Red Crescent, Education Above All, Silatech, RACA in addition to Ministry of Public Health, Sidra Hospital, Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar’s Council for Development and Research and Qatar University. Also several research and development institutions were participating such as: HBKU Research Complex, Qatar National Research Fund, Qatar Biomedical Research Institute and Doha Institute for Post Graduate Studies.

It is worth mentioning that QFFD aims to lay the foundation for further cooperation in the future to achieve a common vision and to have a solid scope of collaboration with GlobalGood to benefit from their technologies to solve some of the most difficult human problems. It also aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between QFFD and international partners to achieve sustainable development goals with leading humanitarian organizations, supportive governments, research institutions and the private sector by focusing on two main goals related to SDG3 and SDG8.

For his part, the Deputy Director General of Projects Development at QFFD, Mr. Misfer bin Hamad Al-Shahwani stated that the aim of such cooperation was to coordinate and invest in innovations that could help to find cost-effective solutions and inventions to the health and development problems in resource-poor areas. The workshop aims at setting a platform for facilitating coaction with all national stakeholders and to exchange experiences with international institutions and explore possible future cooperation on the use of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence in the global health and global development sector as well as identifying specific initiatives and joint projects which are compatible with the priorities of the Qatari NGOs.

“Global Good acknowledges the evolving role of the State of Qatar in making progress against U.N. Sustainable Development Goals and applauds its significant contributions to the development and humanitarian sectors, especially in global health, education and economic development,” said Dr. Peter Small, Senior Director of Global Health Technologies. “With a focus on invention and innovation, Global Good is looking forward to exploring areas of technological collaboration with Qatar in health and agriculture.”
