QATAR FUND FOR DEVELOPMENT HOSTS AN IMPACTFUL CONFERENCE ABOUT SUSTAINING LIFE FOR GENERATIONS IN DOHA 2023 EXPO WITH QATAR CHARITY, GLOBAL GREEN GROWTH INSTITUTE, AND WORLD FOOD PROGRAM
Following the State of Qatar’s launch of Expo 2023 Doha, Qatar Fund for Development, launched QFFD Sustainability Summit 2023 in Expo’s Congress Center, by partnering up with Qatar Charity, Global Green Growth Institute, and World Food Program. The event explores the importance of integrating SDG 8 – economic empowerment – into food security, water security, and climate change-focused development projects, acknowledging the crucial role of sustainable economic growth in overcoming these challenges.
The event was attended by His Excellency Mr. Khalifa Al-Kuwari, Director General of Qatar Fund for Development, Mr. Sultan Al-Asiri, Deputy Director-General for Project Devolopment at QFFD, and Ms. Lauren Landis, Country Director for Kenya at World Food Programme, in addition to high-level figures from Qatar Charity and the Global Green Growth Institute.
We were joined by our inspiring panelist that gave insightful keynote speeches, and interactive panel discussions, the conference fostered knowledge exchange, encouraged collaboration, and inspired innovative approaches to achieve a resilient future for all, with a strong focus on food and water insecurity amidst climate challenges while uplifting farming communities. By harnessing the collective expertise and commitment of diverse stakeholders.
On this occasion Deputy Director Genral of Project Development, Mr. Sultan Al-Aseeri said: “Doing better” also means working together and joining efforts – as no one can do it alone. Against this background, Qatar Fund for Development is convening this conference, co-hosted with our strategic partners, the World Food Programme, Qatar Charity, and the Global Green Growth Institute. We are joined by experts, practitioners, and thought leaders from diverse sectors to stimulate discussions, foster knowledge exchange, and encourage collaboration around innovative approaches and transformative solutions – as “the SDGs are not just a list of goals. They carry the hopes, dreams, rights, and expectations of people everywhere”, to quote the UN Secretary General.”
Such events are a starting point for a better sustained future for all, as they serve as an open space to brainstorm new possibilities and out of the box innovative solutions for those worldwide pressing issues.
