Qatar Fund for development organizes the second consultation workshop with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs
A second consultation workshop on the humanitarian assistance framework was organized by Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) in collaboration with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Where OCHA provided the technical support to QFFD in order to develop the humanitarian assistance framework. The workshop will take place on 28 and 29 October 2019.
At the first workshop that was held in May 2019, the opportunity was given to build a common understanding of the role and capacity of different stakeholders and through truthful discussion at different sessions, identifying problems, particularly for quick response, to improve other strategic areas & to provide humanitarian assistance more effectively and efficiently.
The aims of this year workshop is to increase understanding, capacity and cooperation to reach global solutions that can save lives and alleviate unexpected risks and disasters faster and more efficiently.
The workshop was attended by many local and international strategic partners. Delegations from sister and friend countries from the donors also attended the workshop like Switzerland, Australia, Germany, Sweden, European Union, Ireland, South Africa and USA, due to the importance of involving all stakeholder groups in all sectors, especially at the community level, in order to enhance Disaster response in member countries and improved capacity for natural disaster response and disaster risk assessment.
This partnership and collaboration between Qatar and OCHA is not new as the state of Qatar is playing a role in OCHA as ODSG member and a contributor to CERF and Country-Based Pooled Fund.
QFFD reached a great milestone since the start of operations, as Humanitarian Assistance Aid increased from 24 million $ in 2012 to 207 million $ in 2018. This is where the role of these events and activities comes as it builds capacity through the sharing of experiences in addition to this is an opportunity to access innovative solution and efficient assistance and quick response appropriate to the occurrence.
