Qatar Fund for Development Participates in COP29, reaffirming commitment to global climate action
The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) participated in the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), held in Baku, Azerbaijan. This participation underscored QFFD’s strong commitment to global climate action and its continued efforts to advance sustainable development worldwide.
As part of its efforts, QFFD hosted two key side events at the State of Qatar pavilion, showcasing practical solutions for building climate resilience. On November 18, QFFD in collaboration with the OPEC Fund for International Development held a session titled “Education as a Tool for Climate Resilience.” Under the Qatar Scholarships initiative, the session highlighted the crucial role of education in equipping individuals and communities with the knowledge and skills necessary to adapt and mitigate climate change to ensure long-term sustainability.
On November 19, QFFD hosted another critical session titled, “Building Climate-Resilient Communities in Least Developed Countries.”, which focused on exploring strategies to enhance climate resilience in LDCs, addressing pressing challenges such as food insecurity and the disproportionate impacts of climate change. During the session, QFFD proudly launched The QFFD Cookbook: Unity in Every Bite, a diverse collection of recipes from the communities supported by QFFD, celebrating the transformative power of food to unite, empower, and inspire.
Ahmed Alrumaihi, Public Relations and Communication Manager at QFFD, stated, “By engaging with key stakeholders and sharing best practices, we play an important role in shaping global strategies for sustainable development. Through innovative solutions and constructive dialogue, we aim to inspire global collaboration and contribute to building a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient future for all.”
QFFD’s participation in COP29 further reinforces the State of Qatar’s commitment to international cooperation and its proactive role in addressing the global climate crisis. Guided by the principles of equity, inclusivity, and solidarity, QFFD remains steadfast in advancing sustainable development goals that enhance resilience and pave the way for a brighter and more sustainable future for communities around the world.
