Qatar Fund for Development sends the first batch of urgent humanitarian aid to the Republic of Namibia to combat the drought

June 14, 2024

Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) sent the first batch consisting of 30 ton of urgent humanitarian aid to the Republic of Namibia to combat the drought. The shipment includes food baskets to support the needs of the Namibian people, sent via an aircraft belonging to the Qatari Amiri Air Force.

The Republic of Namibia has declared a national state of emergency due to drought affecting all regions of the country, which has impacted the agriculture and livestock sectors, causing a shortage of basic food necessities. Therefore, this aid aims to alleviate suffering and save lives, playing an important role in supporting sustainable development goals.

This assistance underscores the commitment QFFD and the State of Qatar to international solidarity, supporting friendly nations and the most vulnerable communities, and bolstering their resilience.
