Qatar Fund for Development signs an agreement to support the Analysis and Communication Center of the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict

To enhance the protection of children affected by armed conflict

Contribution agreement to support the Analysis and Communication Center of the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict

 

Qatar Fund for Development and the Office of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy for Children and Armed Conflict signed a funding agreement for the Center for the Promotion and Protection of Children Affected by Armed Conflict in Doha, on the sidelines of the Doha Forum 2019 meetings.

The agreement was signed on the Qatari side by His Excellency Mr. Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Kuwari, Director General of QFFD and Her Excellency Mrs. Virginia Gamba, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict.

Under this agreement, the State of Qatar will support the Analysis and Communication Center of the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict for a period of three years, which will open in Doha, with the aim of enhancing knowledge and skills related to the protection of children affected by armed conflict in the region and raising awareness and encouraging the collection of information about the plight of children affected By war, and strengthen international cooperation to improve their protection.

For her part, Mrs. Virginia Gamba, Special Representative of the Secretary-General confirmed that this support provided by QFFD aims to enhance the work of the “Office of the Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict CAAC” to end and prevent violations against children in armed conflict.
