Qatar Fund for Development signs an agreement with the Municipality of Tirana to establish Qatar Square in Tirana

Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) signed a grant agreement with the Municipality of Tirana to establish Qatar Square in the capital of the Republic of Albania, Tirana. The Agreement was signed by Mr. Sultan Bin Ahmed Al-Aseeri, Acting director general of QFFD and by HE Mr. Erion Veliaj, Mayor of the Municipality of Tirana. The signing ceremony was attended by HE Mr. Jaber Ali Hussain Al-Dosseri, Ambassador of The State of Qatar in Tirana.
The main square is planned to be constructed in the heart of the capital, Tirana, on an area of (23.7) thousand square meters, up to 11 million euros. It also will include several facilities such as celebrations, exhibitions, and events squares, some shops, gathering spaces, and a water fertilization system for “Lido” river aims to sustain natural irrigation water for the garden. The design of the project is inspired by the “Sedu” pattern, to reflect the aesthetics of the Qatari heritage, to enhance cultural exchange and cooperation between the two countries.The project of developmental long-term goals gears toward providing a suitable environment for building 25,000 houses in the square surroundings, in addition to providing various job opportunities for Albanian citizens, as the establishment of this project contributes to the wheel of development and reviving the local labor market by making this square an important center. It also reflects the essential role of the State of Qatar in the developing other countries and societies most in need.
