QFFD Signs Core Contribution Agreement worth 8 Million US $To Finance UNICEF to Promote the Rights and Well-Being Of The World’s Children In All Fields
Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD) signed an agreement with UNICEF to support its regular resources worth 8 Million US $ on the sidelines of the 18th Doha Forum. The agreement was signed by HE Khalifa Bin Jassim Al Kuwari, Director General of QFFD, and HE Henrietta Fore, UNICEF Executive Director.
QFFD’s grant aims to support UNICEF’s regular resources to improve policies and services that protect children and promote the organization’s drive to make the world a safe and inclusive place for children to grow. The agreement aims to provide quality education as a basic right for all children, whether in the developing countries or in conflict and crisis affected areas. The agreement will also create creative and innovative solutions backed by rigorous research in order to address the complicated challenges facing children today, as well as providing and delivering essential medicines, aids and supplies to the neediest children in the world.
Furthermore, the agreement also aims to promote the rights and well-being of every child in all fields and to ensure that every child has the inherent right to life, survival, development and realization of their potential for the benefit of a better world in the future.
On this occasion, Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Kuwari, QFFD Director General, said: “Qatar Fund For Development pays special attention to initiatives and projects that take care of children. The provision of support to UNICEF will help children have continued access to basic services and needs to enjoy a decent life”.
He added: “This agreement is part of the State of Qatar’s interest in helping the children of the world to reach a decent life for all. Access to the basics is the most basic human right, especially for children, who are in dire need of such support. This is to ensure a brighter future for all”.
UNICEF Executive Director Mrs. Henrietta Fore “Millions of children around the world continue to die too soon, drop out of school too early and suffer in silence too often,” said Henrietta Fore, UNICEF Executive Director. “This generous contribution from the Qatar Fund for Development will help us reach children who are in the greatest need and at the greatest risk.”
