Qatar Fund for Development Hosted the Global Green Growth Institute’s Greenpreneurs in Doha for a Fruitful Study Visit

Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) hosted the Global Green Growth Institute’s (GGGI) Greenpreneurs in Doha for a fruitful study visit over the course of 7 days. Throughout this week, the Greenpreneurs visited green farming lands and sustainable factories while meeting leading Qataris in sustainable manufacturing.
The impact of this study visit lies in supporting green entrepreneurship and fostering innovation, creativity, inspiration, and exchange of experiences. In addition, this opportunity offered an enriched experience to the Greenpreneurs for them to take back home and build upon their current businesses.
This step enables QFFD to showcase the State of Qatar’s sustainable industries to small-business owners in supported countries to inspire them and help them lead forward hopeful futures for their communities

Following the State of Qatar’s launch of Expo 2023 Doha, Qatar Fund for Development, launched QFFD Sustainability Summit 2023 in Expo’s Congress Center, by partnering up with Qatar Charity, Global Green Growth Institute, and World Food Program. The event explores the importance of integrating SDG 8 – economic empowerment – into food security, water security, and climate change-focused development projects, acknowledging the crucial role of sustainable economic growth in overcoming these challenges.
The event was attended by His Excellency Mr. Khalifa Al-Kuwari, Director General of Qatar Fund for Development, Mr. Sultan Al-Asiri, Deputy Director-General for Project Devolopment at QFFD, and Ms. Lauren Landis, Country Director for Kenya at World Food Programme, in addition to high-level figures from Qatar Charity and the Global Green Growth Institute.
We were joined by our inspiring panelist that gave insightful keynote speeches, and interactive panel discussions, the conference fostered knowledge exchange, encouraged collaboration, and inspired innovative approaches to achieve a resilient future for all, with a strong focus on food and water insecurity amidst climate challenges while uplifting farming communities. By harnessing the collective expertise and commitment of diverse stakeholders.
On this occasion Deputy Director Genral of Project Development, Mr. Sultan Al-Aseeri said: “Doing better” also means working together and joining efforts – as no one can do it alone. Against this background, Qatar Fund for Development is convening this conference, co-hosted with our strategic partners, the World Food Programme, Qatar Charity, and the Global Green Growth Institute. We are joined by experts, practitioners, and thought leaders from diverse sectors to stimulate discussions, foster knowledge exchange, and encourage collaboration around innovative approaches and transformative solutions – as “the SDGs are not just a list of goals. They carry the hopes, dreams, rights, and expectations of people everywhere”, to quote the UN Secretary General.”
Such events are a starting point for a better sustained future for all, as they serve as an open space to brainstorm new possibilities and out of the box innovative solutions for those worldwide pressing issues.

QATAR FUND FOR DEVELOPMENT AND QATAR MUSEUMS SIGN SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT FOR ‘COUNTRYSIDE, THE FUTURE’ EXHIBITION

DOHA, QATAR, 12 September: On September 12, Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and Qatar Museums (QM) signed a sponsorship agreement on the ‘Countryside, The Future’ Exhibition at the National Museum of Qatar. The event and signing ceremony were attended by His Excellency Mr. Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Kuwari, Director General of QFFD, and Mr. Mohammed Al-Rumaihi, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Museums.

Countryside, The Future is an exhibition which was first presented at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, curated, and designed by Rem Koolhaas and Samir Bantal of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture.

Through films, objects, reproduced artworks, robotic sculptures and site-specific installations, the exhibition offers a space to address political, socioeconomic, and environmental issues of our times and solutions originating from the countryside. The exhibition will be adapted to the context of Qatar and showcase innovation in the fields of food security, agriculture, and climate change, including QFFD’s international cooperation efforts in these areas.

Khalifa Al-Kuwari stated, “This agreement is a unique and exciting opportunity for QFFD to strengthen our collaboration with Qatar Museums and other partners that share the vision that it needs combined efforts to tackle global challenges such as food insecurity and climate change. Through this joint effort, we can advocate for urgent action and solutions from the countryside to the world using the unifying power of culture and arts.”

QFFD contributes to tackling food insecurity and climate change around the globe through supporting climate-smart agriculture in the countryside as well as entrepreneurial initiatives and innovations in the green economy.

Mohammed Saad Al-Rumaihi, Acting CEO of Qatar Museums commented on the agreement, saying “Countryside, The Future is an extraordinary exhibition which sheds light on the critical efforts backed by QFFD in the fields of food security, climate change adaptation, agricultural entrepreneurship, and innovation. Our collaboration with QFFD allows us to address global challenges like food insecurity and climate change, using art and culture to inspire urgent action and solutions.”

Through collaborative efforts with QM, the Exhibition aims to highlight the projects and work funded and supported by QFFD surrounding the topics of food security, climate change adaptation, agricultural entrepreneurship, and innovation through an interactive and immersive display.
