Qatar Fund for Development Launches Unity in Every Bite Cookbook at the 29th Conference of the Parties, COP29

Doha, Qatar — November 2024

Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) is proud to announce the launch of its cookbook, Unity in Every Bite. This unique initiative brings together a diverse collection of recipes from QFFD stakeholders worldwide, celebrating the power of food to unite, empower, and inspire. The cookbook was unveiled during the side event “Building Climate-Resilient Communities in Least Developed Countries” at the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Baku, Azerbaijan, on November 19, 2024.

The Unity in Every Bite cookbook features 24 authentic recipes from 16 countries, highlighting the cultural diversity and resilience of the communities QFFD supports. It offers a window into the culinary traditions of some of the world’s most vulnerable regions, providing a platform for refugees, conflict-affected individuals, and marginalized groups to share their stories. Each recipe is paired with inspiring stories of empowerment, resilience, and the strength of individuals overcoming environmental and socio-economic challenges. The cookbook underscores the connection between food security, cultural heritage, and community resilience in the face of climate change, while emphasizing sustainable food practices and the adaptability of communities to shifting environmental conditions.

In collaboration with key implementing partners, stories were gathered from organizations including the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Lives and Livelihoods Fund, the World Bank, Turquoise Mountain, Qatar Charity, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

This initiative aligns with QFFD’s commitment to addressing food insecurity and building climate resilience, particularly in Least Developed Countries (LDCs). The cookbook seeks to raise awareness of these critical issues, calling for greater global collaboration and fostering a sense of shared responsibility and solidarity.
