Established to expand access to quality tertiary education for promising individuals from underserved communities within developing countries, the Program remains a strategic pillar in QFFD’s investment in global human capital. This year’s graduating class reflects the reach and diversity of the program, with students completing degrees across multiple fields of study.

The event honored the academic achievements and personal growth of the scholars, highlighting the program’s long-term impact in equipping them to contribute meaningfully to their communities. It was attended by Mr. Fahad Hamad Al-Sulaiti, Director General of QFFD, alongside several directors, staff members, and representatives from both partner institutions.
To date, the Qatar Scholarships Program has supported more than 1,000 students globally. By forging partnerships with institutions of higher education in Qatar, the Program aims to foster knowledge exchange, promote academic excellence, and contribute to broader efforts toward inclusive and sustainable development.

HE Dr. Omar Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of Qatar University, and H.E. Mr. Khalifa Bin Jassim Al-Kuwari, the Director General of Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), graced the occasion with their insightful addresses, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and investment in education for sustainable development.

In addition to the esteemed speakers, representatives from AACSB and African Business Schools shared their perspectives on the future of business education and the role of academia in driving socio-economic progress. The graduates of the DPP-MENA program were recognized for their commitment to addressing unique challenges in the Middle East and North Africa, focusing on sustainable solutions and with a particular focus on sustainable solutions and leadership. Similarly, CFM graduates were acknowledged for their immersion in conflict and fragility management, developing policies and practices for conflict-affected settings. 

Congratulating the graduates, emphasizing their significant accomplishments and the global impact of their education, Asma Al-Moraisi, Deputy Director General at Qatar Fund for Development stated in her speech: “The partnership between GGI, HBKU, and Qatar Scholarships extends beyond academics, empowering graduates to innovate solutions to global challenges. Dr. Alexandre Freire, Director of Executive Programs in DPP and CFM at GGI stated: “The gathering of development professionals from more than 45 countries here today would not have been feasible without the unwavering trust and support of our donors (Swiss Agency of Development and Cooperation, QFFD, and State of Geneva). We deeply appreciate their confidence in our program. The sustained support we have received from our donors throughout the years stands as a testament to the value that our respective governments place on educating those who play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing the development of their nations and communities. We are also grateful for their shared commitment to a vision of a world founded on principles of solidarity, mutual understanding, equity, justice, and peace.”

This agreement aims to establish an integrated city in northern Syria, benefiting 70,000 individuals, to provide means for a decent livelihood for Syrian refugees and internally displaced persons, as well as support their resilience.

The cooperation of Qatar Fund for Development with AFAD is part of the QFFD’s efforts to support the Syrian people. Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, Qatar has been eager to respond and provide humanitarian and relief aid to the Syrian people based on its strong belief in their right to a decent life. These essential aids were established in several projects that covered various fundamental sectors such as health, education, economic empowerment, as well as relief and winter assistance, aimed at improving the means of livelihood for the Syrian people.

Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) in collaboration with the strategic partner Education Above All Foundation (EAA) signed an agreement with the Republic of the Gambia. on the margins of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The signing that took place in at the State of Qatar permanent mission to the United Nation headquarter in New York City, was attended by HE Khalifa Al-Kuwari Director General of QFFD, HE DR MAMADOU TANGARA Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Gambia, HE LAMIN B DIBBA The Gambia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and HE Fahad Al-Sulaiti CEO of EAA
This agreement focusses on opportunities to offer quality education within primary schools for out of school children, through the “Zero Out-of-School Children in The Gambia” project. Aiming to enable access to education in primary schools for more than 66 thousand out of school children.
The Zero Out-of-School Children in The Gambia project will ensure that all children of primary school ages will get back to formal education at the right age and level. This goal will be achieved through several outcomes. First, enhancing parents and community capacity to support the enrollment of OOSC. Second, strengthening the quality of education. Third, strengthening national and sub-national education management and planning systems strengthened. Lastly, expanding alternative learning programs to offer options for OOSC.
“The agreement in cooperation with our strategic partner Education Above All, plays a significant role to support education and secure a decent life, achieving SDG 4 of the sustainable development goals,. At Qatar Fund for Development, one of our visions is that supporting education is one of the key elements of human development and the right path to flourish countries and societies . QFFD is contributing an amount of $20 million USD towards the education sectors in priority countries. This contribution is being channeled through Education Above All (EAA) to achieve inclusive education for all.  

This signing is intended to ensure QFFD’s contribution to accelerating progress towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly SDG 4 – to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”. 

QFFD’s funding grants and building of strategic partnerships ensures the spread of QFFD’s aim and mission to contribute towards the sustainable development goals, and to represent the State of Qatar’s readiness and commitment towards its provision of sustainable and available resources for communities in need around the world.
